This course is designed to provide students an opportunity to engage in activities that will allow them to learn how to contribute to improved economic citizenship through a study of the business and economic environment in which we live.

Introduction to Accounting
Introduction to Accounting

The purpose of this course is to teach students the basic accounting practices and procedures for operating a sole proprietorship. Concepts taught will include analyzing business transactions, journalizing and posting transactions, and preparing financial statements. In addition, students will learn about accounting careers, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and ethics and social responsibility associated with accounting procedures.
The student will:
- Understand tools, strategies, and systems used to maintain, monitor, control, and plan the use of financial resources.
- Demonstrate the skills and competencies required to be successful in an accounting profession.
- Identify and describe generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Complete the steps in the accounting cycle in order to prepare the financial statements.
Advanced Accounting
Advanced Accounting

Prerequisite: Intro to Accounting
The purpose of a course in advanced accounting is to reach students who require the knowledge and skills they will need for an accounting position following high school graduation. In addition, the learning activities will serve students who desire advanced preparation for the study of accounting in college.

Marketing is the process of determining consumer needs and then directing products and services to meet those needs. Students will learn the function of marketing in our economy. The class will include units on economics, the free enterprise system, channels of distribution, management skills, selling, promotion, business and distribution operations, buying and pricing merchandise, entrepreneurship and career planning.
The student will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the economic foundations of marketing, basic terminology and business language
- Recognize the customer-oriented nature of marketing and analyze the impact of marketing activities on the individual, business, and society. (Marketing)
- Analyze the characteristics, motivations, and behaviors of consumers. (Marketing)
- Analyze the influence of external factors on marketing. (Marketing)
- Analyze the elements of the marketing mix, their interrelationships, how they are used in the marketing process, and their role in positioning. (Marketing)

Sports and Entertainment Marketing

Sports and Entertainment Marketing will cover national marketing standards using an industry that brings relevance and enjoyment to the student. Students will cover topics including sports and entertainment products, price decisions, market research, licensing, endorsements, promotion, careers, and marketing plans. Real world scenarios will be used for this course, as students will have the opportunity to work with local sports and entertainment venues.
The student will:
- Discuss the impact of sports and entertainment history on today’s markets.
- Understand the economics of sports and entertainment marketing.
- Explore different career and employment opportunities in sports and entertainment marketing.
- Analyze the choices available for protection against risk and financial loss. (Economics & Personal Finance)

In this term-long high school course, students will embark on an exciting journey into the world of Business Software Applications. Through hands-on instruction and practical projects, students will become proficient in a wide array of essential tools, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite. From mastering the art of crafting professional documents and presentations in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, to effectively organizing data and crunching numbers with Excel, students will develop a strong foundation in software applications crucial for success in the modern business environment. Alongside these core skills, students will also explore various other software solutions, equipping them with the technological prowess required to excel in today’s competitive job market. Whether aspiring to be future entrepreneurs, office professionals, or tech-savvy leaders, this course will empower students with the essential digital tools and skills to thrive in the ever-evolving world of business.

- Identify the rights and protections of all parties as it relates to different types of contracts and agreements.

Dual Credit (DMACC) Course
Do you know someone who owns his or her own business? Do you want to be your own boss? Do you have the goal of owning a highly successful company? These are only a few of the reasons why thousands of people in the United States become entrepreneurs.
In the College and Hybrid Entrepreneurship class, you will select a product or service to sell, determine who your customers are, learn how to market your business, obtain financing, manage your employees, and more. You will also learn how to put together a business plan and will have created a complete plan by the end of the course.

- Identify the characteristics of an entrepreneur.
- Understand the types of ownership.
- Develop a business plan.
- Finance, protect, and insure a business.
